Eligibility: High school seniors enrolled in a public school in the state of Florida. Must be accepted to an accredited college or university for Fall 2025. Award: 1 award at $500.00 US. Applications open: May 1, 2025 Deadline: September 1, 2025 Notifications: October 1, 2025 |

SSTESOL / Badia Scholarship Award
Purpose: To honor an outstanding high school student who achieved academic excellence while learning English as an additional language.
Eligibilty: High school seniors enrolled in a public school in the state of Florida. Must be accepted to an accredited college or university for Fall 2025.
Award: 1 award at $500.00 US.
Guidelines & Criteria:
- Anyone who has previously won a scholarship or award is ineligible to apply.
- Applicant will write a minimum one-page letter of request, which describes the applicant’s academic experiences (including ESOL, EAP, IEP, or LI), highlighting personal and academic challenges and achievement.
- Additional information should be included that outlines the applicant’s future educational goal(s), and how this award will be used to pursue that goal.
- Recommendation Letter: One letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher will be submitted, providing information relevant to the factors above.
- Follow-up: Awardees agree to maintain contact with the SSTESOL President/Board of Directors for up to one year. If feasible and schedule permitting, awardees will attend the Awards ceremony during the annual SSTESOL conference to update the organization on their academic pursuits.
